Shibir’s panel competed with the candidates of the United Student Alliance for the top three DUCSU posts, mainly from the BNP’s student organization Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. However, Chhatra Dal candidates could not build a significant competition in the other DUCSU posts.
Analysis of the published results of the DUCSU elections showed such a picture. Voting for the DUCSU and Hall elections was held from 8 am to 4 pm on Tuesday. The results were announced late last night after the voting. And the final results were announced this Wednesday morning. As a result, the Shibir panel won all three top posts – DUCSU Vice President (VP), General Secretary (GS) and Associate General Secretary (AGS).
Shibir’s candidate Md. Abu Sadiq Kayem won the VP post with 14,042 votes. His closest rival is Chhatra Dal’s Abidul Islam Khan. He received 5,708 votes. Independent candidate Shamim Hossain came third with 3,883 votes. Independent Student Unity Panel’s Umama Fatima came fourth with 3,389 votes. And Anti-Discrimination Student Parliament candidate Abdul Quader came fifth with 1,103 votes.
