What is India saying in response to Pakistan Army Chief’s statement?

In a statement on Monday, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said, “The remarks made by the Pakistani Army Chief during his visit to the United States have come to our attention. Asim Munir’s remarks are ‘irresponsible’. The statement called the threat of nuclear weapons a ‘traditional tactic’ of Pakistan.

The statement said, “The international community can assess for itself the irresponsibility inherent in such remarks. This has further strengthened long-standing suspicions. There are doubts about the security of control and supervision of nuclear weapons in a country whose army goes hand in hand with terrorist groups.”

The statement also said, “It is extremely regrettable that such remarks are made on the soil of a friendly third country (the United States).”

The statement said, “India has already made it clear that it will not bow to a nuclear threat. We will continue to take all necessary steps to protect our national security.’

India’s opposition Congress party also condemned the Pakistan Army Chief’s statement on Monday. The Congress said it was surprising that the US was giving special treatment to such a person.

Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said, “The Congress strongly condemns this statement. It is surprising that the US authorities are giving special treatment to such a person.”
