Upcoming elections uncertain if government does not take tough action against terrorism: Islamic Movement Bangladesh

Islami Andolan Bangladesh Secretary General Principal Maulana Yunus Ahmed said that the government’s failure to suppress terrorism and ensure public security has become glaring. If the government does not take strict action to suppress terrorism now, the upcoming elections will also become uncertain.

Upcoming elections uncertain if government does not take tough action against terrorism: Islamic Movement Bangladesh

He said this in a statement sent to the media on behalf of the party on Sunday. In the statement, the Islami Andolan Bangladesh Secretary General said that it is true that the public administration and law enforcement agencies have gone through a terrible situation. But one year is enough time to restore the law enforcement agencies. Although overall reforms including changing the uniform of the police were discussed in the beginning, they were not done.

Maulana Yunus Ahmed said that the reason for the lack of improvement in the law and order situation is that despite the fact that most of the police members were appointed during fascism and their non-cooperation continues, no major reforms have been carried out in the police force. Only the accused have been dismissed, and that too in small numbers. As a result, the allies of fascism are still alive in the public administration and law enforcement agencies. That is why the law and order situation has not improved. On the contrary, the murder of businessmen and journalists continues to occur with terrible cruelty. In such a situation, it can be assumed that the optimism expressed by the Chief Advisor for a festive election will be crushed.

Regarding the recovery of a huge stockpile of indigenous weapons in the New Market area of Dhaka, the top leader of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh said that speculation is spreading about how many more such stocks have been built. There is panic in the public mind.

Demanding that the suppression of terrorism be given top priority, Yunus Ahmed called on the government to take quick and urgent steps.
