US President Donald Trump is ‘frustrated’ with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He reacted like this after a phone call between the two. Trump said that during the phone call, he felt that Putin did not want to stop the war in Ukraine. A few hours after the two leaders spoke, Russia launched a massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine.

The phone call between Trump and Putin lasted for about an hour on Thursday. He told reporters about the phone call before leaving Washington for Iowa on Friday. Trump had planned to call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that day after talking to Putin.

Trump told reporters, “I’m very disappointed with the conversation I had with President Putin today (Thursday). Because I don’t think he had any intention of talking. And I’m very disappointed. I don’t think he wants to stop (the Russia-Ukraine war). It’s a very bad thing. There’s been no progress in the talks with them.”

Trump has been working to stop the Russia-Ukraine war since he took office as US president in January. The US delegation has held talks with both sides, Moscow and Kiev, on this issue. However, there has been no progress on the ceasefire. In such a situation, many have called on Trump to pressure Putin to go for a ceasefire.

Moscow has also confirmed the Trump-Putin phone call. Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov said that there was no discussion during the talks about suspending some US arms supplies to Ukraine. Trump said that arms supplies to Ukraine have not been completely suspended. Former President Joe Biden had given the country so much weapons that it risked weakening U.S. defenses.

The suspension of the arms shipment sparked confusion among Ukrainian leaders over Trump’s approach to the ongoing war. They later summoned the U.S. ambassador to Kiev on Wednesday to stress the need for the weapons. Ukrainian leaders said that suspending the U.S. arms supply would weaken Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia.
