Dhaka University Law Professor Asif Nazrul wrote on Facebook, ‘Congratulations to the leaders of the Chhatra Shibir who won the DUCSU elections. Congratulations to the independent candidates who won. Congratulations to all the participants who accepted the results of this election.’
Noting that various analyses are now underway on the Chhatra Shibir’s huge victory, Professor Asif Nazrul wrote, ‘I will only say one thing. The politics of giving tags has been defeated by a landslide through this election. During Hasina’s tenure, countless Shibir activists and ordinary students were subjected to inhuman torture with the Shibir tag. Incidents of being beaten up on suspicion of Shibir and then handed over to the police were routine. I have continuously protested strongly against this. There have been various threats and attacks, I have never stopped.’
In a Facebook post, Asif Nazrul also said, ‘In February 2024, I also wrote a novel on this theme called “Ami Abubakar”. It had to be printed 11 times in one book fair. I did not understand the reason for this then, but now I understand. My request to the leaders of the camp is to work together with all those involved in the mass uprising.’
