Students arrest former UP chairman of Patiya and hand him over to police
An Awami League leader has been arrested and handed over to the police by anti-discrimination students in Chittagong. On Saturday night, around 12 midnight, the Panchlaish police arrested him from a restaurant in the city’s Gate No. 2 area and took him to the police station.

The arrested Awami League leader is Inzamamul Haque alias Jasim. He is the joint convener of Patiya Upazila Awami League and former chairman of Patiya’s Kachuai Union Parishad. After his arrest, the Panchlaish police handed him over to the Patiya police station.
It was learned from eyewitnesses and police that Inzamamul had come to eat at a restaurant in the city’s Gate No. 2 area with some of his acquaintances. Seeing him there, the anti-discrimination movement activists informed the police. Later, the Panchlaish police station came and took Inzamamul away.
Towsif Imroz, the main organizer of the anti-discrimination student movement in Chittagong, told Prothom Alo that Awami League leader Inzamamul had come to eat at a restaurant with some people. There is a case against him for attacking and shooting during the protest. After informing the police, the police came and took him away.
When asked, Panchlaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Solaiman told Prothom Alo on Sunday afternoon that there is a case against Inzamamul for attacking and shooting during the anti-discrimination protest in Patiya on August 4 last year. After receiving information from the students, the police brought Inzamamul to the police station. Later, he was handed over to the Patiya Police Station.
Patiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nuruzzaman told Prothom Alo that the accused Inzamamul has been sent to court in the case of attacking and shooting during the anti-discrimination protest.
