Robbery in Doha by breaking into a house through a window grill, gold ornaments and money looted

A robbery was committed by cutting the window grill in the Narisha Paschimchar area of Dohar, Dhaka. The incident took place at a businessman’s house early on Thursday. A group of seven to eight people took the people of the house hostage and looted about 25 tons of gold ornaments, foreign currency and 1 lakh taka.

The victim’s family members said that at around 4 am today, a group of seven to eight robbers entered the house by cutting the grill of the ground floor of the two-storey house. They first entered a room on the ground floor and took the family members hostage at the point of sharp weapons (chapatis). Later, they tied their hands and feet and looted the house. At that time, the robbers escaped with 25 tons of gold ornaments, 300 Australian dollars and about 1 lakh taka from the cupboard. They were wearing masks. The owner of the house, Mamun Khan, said that goods worth 30 to 40 lakh taka were looted in this incident. He studied abroad and does business in the country. He has a business called Hungerline Supermarket in Narisha. He was going abroad, so he had kept some Australian dollars at home. Mamun Khan said that he could hear people talking outside the house during the robbery.

After receiving the information, the Dohar police station inspected the scene. In this regard, the officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station Hasan Ali said, “It was not a robbery, it was a major theft by cutting the grill. After receiving the information, we went to the scene with the police. After the investigation, further legal action will be taken.”
