Desk Report,
Real Madrid is the biggest brand in football
According to the latest report by Brand Finance, Spanish club Real Madrid has retained its top spot as the world’s most valuable football brand. At the same time, Real Madrid is number 1 in both the lists of strongest clubs and enterprise value. London-based Brand Finance is one of the world’s leading brand valuation and consulting firms. Every year, the company evaluates the strength and market value of more than 5,000 brands in the world. They work with more than 40 sectors and industries in 46 countries around the world. All rankings, research reports and white papers published by Brand Finance since 2007 are stored on their website Brand Directory. According to the latest report by Brand Finance, published under the name ‘Football 50, 2025’, Real Madrid’s brand value increased by 14 percent compared to last year to 1.9 billion euros this year. The brand value of another Spanish superpower club, Barcelona, has increased by 11 percent to 1.7 billion euros. Both these clubs have also received the highest rating of ‘Triple A Plus’ in the rating of strong clubs. They are also at the top of the enterprise value – Real Madrid 6 billion euros, Barcelona 4.4 billion euros.
Real Madrid is the biggest brand in football
According to the report, Manchester City, which was number 2 in brand value last year, has dropped to number 3 after failing to win a major trophy for 8 years. PSG has entered the top five for the first time by winning the Champions League, surpassing Bayern Munich (6) and Manchester United (7). Liverpool, which was number 5 last year, has now risen to number 4. The other three Premier League clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, are at number 8, 9 and 10 respectively.
In addition, seven football clubs have received the most prestigious Triple A Plus rating in the strong club rating, of which four are from the Premier League. The report also reveals that the Premier League is the most commercially successful of the top leagues. The combined brand value of the top 10 Premier League clubs is €8.2 billion, which is 37 percent of the total brand value of the top 50 clubs.
However, the combined brand value of the Premier League is not as spread out across multiple clubs as it is in other European leagues. The brand value of the other major leagues in Europe is largely concentrated in one or two clubs.
For example, in La Liga, Real Madrid and Barcelona account for 70 percent of the combined brand value of all clubs (€5.2 billion). The picture is similar in the Bundesliga, where Bayern Munich’s brand value is double that of their biggest rivals Borussia Dortmund. The most one-sided is France’s Ligue 1 – PSG’s brand value is €1.4 billion, which is seven times higher than the €197 million of the second-highest club, Olympique Marseille.
