He said these words at a press conference at the party’s central office in Purana Paltan in the capital this Sunday morning. The party’s senior vice president Faruk Hasan and senior joint general secretary Hasan Al Mamun spoke at the press conference moderated by Abu Hanif, a member of the People’s Rights Council’s higher council. In a written statement, Rashed Khan said, ‘July does not belong to anyone alone, July belongs to all of us. If the declaration is written to please any one party, it will be one-sided and internalizing the history of 24 like 1971. That will be completely contrary to the July spirit.’
Rashed Khan also said, ‘These young and freedom-loving people will be the bearers of the revolution in the formation of a new Bangladesh. Regardless of party affiliation, every political party and government should recognize this contribution of the revolutionary youth and freedom-loving people. Bangladesh will move forward on this foundation. Therefore, in the context of the 36-day revolution, the July Declaration should clearly state the uncompromising role of political parties for 14-15 years, including the 2018 quota reform movement, the safe road movement, and the private university anti-VAT movement.’
The General Secretary of the Gana Adhikar Parishad said that this mass uprising was not created in just a 36-day movement. The continuous struggle of 14-15 years came to an end in July. Those who want to limit the mass uprising to just 36 days, their main objective is to deny all the struggles of the past.
Gana Odhikar Parishad Higher Council members Shakil Uzzaman, Shahidul Islam Fahim, Sarkar Noor Ershad Siddiqui, Joint General Secretary Zillu Khan, Joint Office Secretary Shah Muhammad Sagar, and Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Dhaka Divisional Organizing Secretary Akhtaruzzaman were present at the press conference today.
