The Gana Odhikar Parishad has warned of a nationwide movement if Jatiya Pati chairman GM Quader is not arrested within the next 48 hours.
Rashed Khan, General Secretary of the Gana Odhikar Parishad, gave this warning at a protest rally in Dhaka on Sunday Public Rights Council. He demanded that the Jatiya Party’s organizational activities be banned and its registration suspended like the Awami League.Public Rights Council.
The Gana Odhikar Parishad held a protest march and rally in front of the Bijoy Nagar Alrazi Complex in the capital to protest the ban on the political activities of the Jatiya Party, the arrest of GM Quader and his collaborators of fascism, and the attack by the Jatiya Party on the leaders and activists of the Gana Odhikar Parishad in Barisal.
Speaking as the chief guest at the rally, Rashed Khan, General Secretary of the Gana Odhikar Parishad, said, “If Sheikh Hasina is tried, why won’t GM Quader be tried? The Jatiya Party’s organizational activities should be banned and its registration suspended like the Awami League.”
Questioning why GM Quader is not being arrested even though a case has been filed against him, Rashed Khan said that GM Quader is also responsible for killing the democracy of this country just as Hasina is responsible. He said, ‘Hasina has fled to Delhi, how is GM Quader still out of jail?’
Rashed Khan said that a case has been filed in the wake of the attack on the leaders and activists of the Gana Odhikar Parishad in Barisal. He demanded that the guilty be arrested within the next 24 hours. At the same time, he demanded that GM Quader be arrested within 48 hours and said, arrest him, otherwise a movement will start across the country.
The General Secretary of the Gana Odhikar Parishad demanded that the election date be announced from the discussions of the Consensus Commission with political parties on June 2. He said, do not engage in dialogues that serve tea and breakfast. Decide to make the dialogue fruitful. Publish the roadmap for trials, reforms and elections.
Rashed Khan said, ‘Our demand is to organize the national elections in September as scheduled and between December. Trial, reforms and elections complement each other. Don’t confuse one with the other. Announce the date of the election tomorrow through dialogue. Before the election, definitely publish a roadmap for reform and genocide based on consensus.
