Physically disabled Ullas Pal got his choice of administration cadre in the final results of the 44th BCS. Ullas Pal is happy to have achieved the desired success by competing with other general candidates. Ullas Pal, who never took quota for physically disabled in his education, is happy.

Ullas Pal told Prothom Alo, “I have come this far by competing with normal and healthy candidates in schools, colleges, universities and jobs. Although I had the opportunity to take the physically challenged quota in the Dhaka University admission test, I did not take the quota. I survived by competing with general candidates.”

Ullas Pal’s hands and feet are crooked. He does not get any strength in his right hand. That is why he has trouble writing. He also has trouble walking because of the crooked legs. He said, “Despite my physical obstacles, I never even thought about taking the disabled quota in competitive exams. Mentally, I consider myself as healthy as ten others.” After birth, Ullas Pal could not walk like a normal child at the age when children learn to walk normally. His two arms and legs were crooked by birth. However, his parents did not neglect his treatment. He was even taken to India for treatment.

Ullas Pal said, “Despite the doctors’ hundreds of efforts, his arms and legs did not return to normal. However, I learned to walk late. I cannot walk normally. I started my education at Kartikpur Palpara Primary School next to my house. After that, I never looked back.’
Ullas got GPA-5 in the science department from Kartikpur High School in Shariatpur and GPA-5 in HSC from Northern College Bangladesh in Dhaka. Then he got admitted to the management department of Dhaka University. He stood 463rd in the merit list of the admission test in the ‘G’ unit of Dhaka University.

Ullas said, ‘During the admission test at Dhaka University, there was an option to take the disabled quota. But I consciously avoided it. I was confident that I would be able to compete with the general candidates. I survived in the merit list in the admission test.’
