Photographer Chanchal Mahmud is no more
Renowned photographer Chanchal Mahmud is no more. He passed away at LabAid Cardiac Hospital in Dhanmondi in the capital at around 9:30 pm on Friday (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He was 67 years old.

Chanchal Mahmud’s wife Raina Mahmud confirmed the news of her husband’s death to Prothom Alo. He had been suffering from heart disease for a long time.
Chanchal Mahmud’s body will be kept at the Central Jame Mosque of Dhaka University at 12 noon on Saturday to pay tribute. His funeral will be held there after Zuhr. He will then be buried at Banani Graveyard. Chanchal Mahmud’s photography began under the guidance of photography guru Manjur Alam Beg. Chanchal Mahmud was the founder of modern fashion photography in Bangladesh. Many photographers have graduated from the Chanchal Mahmud School of Photography located in Dhanmondi.
