Parliamentary election boundaries finalized: Changes in 37 seats, impacting 46 seats including Dhaka
The Election Commission (EC) has published the final list of delimitation of the constituencies of the National Parliament for the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.

The final list of delimitation of 300 seats was published on Thursday night through a gazette signed by EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed. The final list has brought changes to the boundaries of 37 seats in different regions of the country. However, this change has affected at least 46 seats.
Significant changes have been made in the constituencies of Dhaka in six seats. The boundaries of Dhaka-2, 4, 5, 7, 10 and 14 seats in Dhaka have been changed.
Taranagar, Kalatia, Hazratpur, Ruhitpur, Shakta, Kalindi and Basta unions of Keraniganj upazila and Aminbazar, Tentuljhora, Bhakurta unions of Savar upazila have been included in Dhaka-2 constituency. Dhaka-4 constituency includes wards 47, 51, 52, 53, 54 and 58 to 61 of Dhaka South City. Dhaka-5 constituency includes wards 48, 49, 50, 62 to 70 of Dhaka South City Corporation. Dhaka-7 constituency includes wards 23 to 33 and 35, 36, 56 and 57 of Dhaka South City Corporation.
Dhaka-10 constituency includes wards 14 to 18 and 22 and 55 of Dhaka South City Corporation. Dhaka-14 constituency includes wards 7 to 12 of Dhaka North City and Kaundia and Bongaon unions of Savar Upazila.
It was proposed to merge Birulia and Bongaon unions of Savar Thana of Dhaka-19 (Savar-Ashulia) constituency with Dhaka-2 (Keraniganj) constituency. At the objection stage, there was a demand to divide the upazila into two constituencies considering the number of voters or, if not possible, to keep the entire Savar upazila in one constituency. Although Birulia union was kept back with Savar constituency in the final list, Bongaon has been merged with Dhaka-14 constituency.
Convenor of the Doha and Nawabganj Seat Restoration Committee Md. Humayun Kabir said, ‘We had submitted an application to the Election Commission to restore the re-determined parliamentary seats in Doha Upazila and Nawabganj Upazila with the signatures of more than 6,000 people in the first phase and 11,000 people in the second phase. But our application was not accepted.’
The number of seats in Bagerhat has been reduced from four to three. Currently, Bagerhat-1 constituency includes Bagerhat Sadar, Mollahat and Chitalmari Upazilas; Bagerhat-2 includes Fakirhat, Rampal and Mongla Upazilas; and Bagerhat-3 includes Kachua, Morelganj and Sharankhola Upazilas. Earlier, there were four seats as Bagerhat-1, 2, 3 and 4.
The number of seats in Gazipur region has been increased from five to six. Kaliakoir Upazila and Wards 7 to 12 of Gazipur City have been included in Gazipur-1. Gazipur-2 includes wards 1 to 6 and 13 to 31 of Gazipur City and Bariya Union of Gazipur Sadar Upazila. Gazipur-3 includes Sreepur Upazila, Mirzapur, Bhawalgarh and Pirujali Unions of Gazipur Sadar Upazila and Gazipur Cantonment. Gazipur-5 includes Kaliganj Upazila and wards 40 to 42 of Gazipur City. Gazipur-6 includes wards 32 to 39 and 43 to 57 of Gazipur City.
Narayanganj constituencies include Narayanganj-3 (Sonargaon and Siddhirganj Thana), Narayanganj-4 includes Fatulla, Enayetpur, Baktavali, Kashipur, Kutubpur, Gognagar and Alirtek of Narayanganj Sadar Upazila and Narayanganj-5 includes wards 11 to 27 of Narayanganj City and Bandar Upazila.
Manikganj-2 includes Singair, Harirampur Upazilas and Hatipara and Bharatia Unions of Manikganj Sadar Upazila, and Manikganj Sadar Upazila and Saturia Upazila, excluding Hatipara and Bharatia Unions, have been included in Manikganj-3.
Other districts where significant changes have been made include Panchagarh-1 and 2, Rangpur-1 and 3, Sirajganj-1 and 2, Pabna-1 and 2, Satkhira-2, 3 and 4, Faridpur-2 and 4, Shariatpur-2 and 3, Brahmanbaria-2 and 3, Comilla-1, 2, 6 and 10, Noakhali-1, 2, 4 and 5 and Chittagong-7 and 8.
A specialized committee on delimitation of electoral boundaries has worked ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections. The draft boundaries of 300 seats were published on July 30. The boundaries of the 261 constituencies of the 12th Parliament were retained, with minor changes made in 39 constituencies. Time was given until August 10 to express claims and objections regarding the boundaries of the parliamentary constituencies. On August 27, a hearing was held on 1,893 claims and objections regarding the redrawn boundaries of the parliamentary constituencies over four days. 1,185 objections and 708 suggestions or recommendations related to 84 constituencies in 33 districts were upheld.
The boundaries of all the constituencies of the country have been determined according to the final list, which will be considered an important part of the preparations for the 13th National Parliament elections.
