Padma Express derails in Gazipur, train services between Dhaka and North Bengal suspended
The Padma Express train coming from Rajshahi derailed in Joydevpur, Gazipur, disrupting rail communication between Dhaka and North Bengal. The train derailment occurred at around 8:45 pm on Saturday.

Confirming the matter, Station Master of Joydevpur Railway Junction Abul Hossain Khan said that the Dhaka-bound Padma Express train made a wrong point while entering Joydevpur Junction at around 8:45 pm on Saturday. As a result, it entered the meter gauge line from the broad gauge line. As a result, the bogie derailed. Since then, train services between Dhaka and North Bengal have been suspended. Abul Hossain Khan said that higher authorities have been informed to bring a rescue train to rescue the derailed train.
3-4 bogies of the train have derailed, said Sub-Inspector (SI) of Joydevpur Railway Junction Police Outpost Nadir Uz-Zaman.
Railway officials said the train was supposed to stop at Joydevpur Railway Junction, hence the slow speed. There were no casualties.
