Nuruzzaman’s assets attached, Golam Dastagir’s shares frozen
The court has ordered the attachment of assets of former Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed and the freezing of shares of various companies in the names of former Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi and his wife Hasina Gazi. In addition, the court has banned 13 people, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s private investment and industrial affairs advisor Salman F. Rahman, from traveling abroad.

Apart from this, the court has ordered the attachment of the building of Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam, former chairman of the capital market regulator Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain passed these orders on Tuesday following the application of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court has ordered the attachment of assets of former Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed and the freezing of shares of various companies in the names of former Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi and his wife Hasina Gazi. In addition, the court has banned 13 people, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s private investment and industrial affairs advisor Salman F. Rahman, from traveling abroad.
Apart from this, the court has ordered the attachment of the building of former chairman of the capital market regulator Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam.
Dhaka Metropolitan City Senior Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain issued these orders on Tuesday following the application of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC presented information about the land, plots, cars and bank accounts in the name of Awami League leader and former Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed to the court. Later, an application was filed seeking an order to attach the immovable assets and freeze the movable assets.
After the hearing, the court ordered the attachment of a car in Nuruzzaman’s name and a 10-katha plot in Purbachal. In addition, an order was issued to freeze 31 more bank accounts in his name. Nuruzzaman is in jail after being arrested on January 30.
The ACC has filed a petition in the court seeking an order to freeze the shares of 21 companies in the name of former Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi and 13 shares in the name of his wife. After hearing, the court ordered the freezing of the shares of the companies in their names.
In addition, the court has ordered the freezing of the registration of two vehicles in the name of Golam Dastagir Gazi. Golam Dastagir Gazi has been in jail since his arrest on August 25 last year.
