Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed said that there will be no meeting with the agitating NBR officials on Sunday. He said that if the officials want to observe the shutdown program, they should do so.
No meeting with NBR protesters today: Financial Advisor
Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed said this in response to a question from journalists at the Finance Ministry around 2:30 pm today.
The Finance Advisor said that the issue of the NBR officials’ agitation was discussed in the Advisory Council meeting today. A press release will be issued in this regard.
According to Finance Ministry sources, it was decided in the Advisory Council meeting not to hold a meeting with the agitating NBR officials. The Finance Advisor said that a decision will be taken later on whether the meeting with them, which is scheduled for July 1, will also take place or not.
Meanwhile, NBR sources said around 2 pm today that the agitating NBR officials and employees will meet with the Finance Advisor at 4 pm today. The meeting will be held at the Finance Advisor’s office. For this, the members of the 20-member delegation from the Income Tax, Customs and VAT cadres have been finalized. It will be led by Hasan Muhammad Tarek Rikabder, President of the NBR Reform Unity Council.
NBR officials and employees have been protesting for several days for rational reforms in the revenue sector based on the opinions of all parties. Like yesterday, they are observing a complete shutdown program today and Sunday as well. This protest is going on under the banner of the NBR Reform Council.
