Easybike driver Mostafizur was presented as an engineer of a company called ‘GS Food Products’ and truck driver Faisal was presented as an employee of this company.

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police came to know this information after interrogating the two accused Mostafizur and Faisal, who were identified as directly involved in the murder of Anwarul Azim.

Those who participated in the murder of MP Anwarul Azim from Jhenaidah-4 constituency were taken to India in various ways. Among them, Md. Mostafizur Rahman was presented as a kidney patient and Faisal Ali alias Saji as a heart patient. They even used fake identities. Easybike driver Mostafizur was presented as an engineer of a company called ‘GS Food Products’ and truck driver Faisal was presented as an employee of the company.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police came to know about this information after interrogating the two accused Mostafizur and Faisal, who were directly involved in the Anwarul Azim murder case.
Mostafizur and Faisal were arrested from the hilly area of Sitakunda on June 26. The next day, the DB police took them on a six-day remand through the court. Last Tuesday, Mostafizur gave a statement in court. And after a six-day remand, Faisal gave a confessional statement in a Dhaka court today, Wednesday.
According to DB and court sources, Md. Siam Hossain, assistant (PS) of Akhtaruzzaman alias Shaheen, the mastermind behind the murder of MP Anwarul Azim, made all the arrangements for the two to go to India. He also created fake identities for the two to get passports. In addition, fake doctor’s prescriptions were created for Mostafizur and Faisal to get visas to go to India in the name of medical treatment. These documents are now in the hands of DB.
Regarding the information obtained during the interrogation of these two accused, DB sources said that Akhtaruzzaman brought them from Khulna to Dhaka to go to Kolkata and made passports. Then he sent them to India by train on May 2. They stayed at a hotel in New Market as per the instructions of the extremist leader Shimul Bhuiyan, who had planned to kill them in India. From there, they went to a flat in Sanjeeva Gardens and killed MP Anwarul along with some others on May 13. The two returned to Dhaka on May 19.
Sources related to the DB investigation into the role of Mostafizur and Faisal in the murder of the MP had earlier said that Faisal used anesthetic to render Anwarul Azim unconscious. On the other hand, Mostafizur was also among those who tied Anwarul to a chair before the murder.
Kolkata Police sources said that on the day Anwarul was murdered, at 1:40 pm, he left his friend’s house in Mandalpara Lane, Barahnagar, Kolkata, and got into a car. Faisal was already in that car. He took the MP to the ‘Axis Mall’ in the New Town area. At 2:40 pm, both of them got out of the car and got into another car. Then Shimul Bhuiyan joined them. The second car in which Anwarul got into was the car that Faisal rented with Mostafizur. These three (Anowarul, Mostafizur and Faisal) went to Sanjeeva Gardens in New Town at 3:05 pm. Later, they entered a flat in the building. In this flat, MP Anwarul was murdered.
