The African country of Uganda is going to hold a presidential election next year. The ruling President Yoweri Musoveni has announced that he will contest the election. Through this, Musoveni is looking to extend his nearly four-decade rule in the country.

Musoveni is now 80 years old. Last night, President Museveni announced that he would run for president next year, representing his party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Museveni came to power in Uganda in 1986, ending a five-year civil war. He has been president since then.

The NRM has twice amended the country’s constitution to remove presidential term limits and age limits. As a result, there is no legal or constitutional obstacle to Museveni remaining as Uganda’s president.

The 43-year-old Bobby was once a popular pop star. He later entered politics. Bobby is quite popular with the people of Uganda.

Bobby Wine previously lost the 2021 presidential election. At that time, he rejected the election results, accusing them of widespread fraud, ballot tampering and intimidation using security forces. Bobby has announced that he will contest again in the upcoming January election.
