Nearly 10 months after the shooting death of shoe factory worker Sajal Mia in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj during the student-public movement against discrimination, a case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 212 others. On May 16, the victim’s mother Runa Begum filed a murder case with Siddhirganj Police Station.

The case names 62 people including Awami League General Secretary and former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation Selina Hayat Ivy, former MP Shamim Osman, Nazrul Islam, Shamim Osman’s son Ayan Osman, nephew Ajmeri Osman, and Metropolitan Awami League Joint Secretary Shah Nizam. 150 more unidentified people have been named as accused.
Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinur Alam told Prothom Alo that Runa Begum, the mother of the deceased in the Sajal murder case, has filed a murder case as the plaintiff. 62 people have been named as accused in the case and 150 more unidentified people have been named as accused.
