Several footballers who have entered the twilight of their careers in the current transfer window have chosen MLS, for example. The latest is Thomas Muller. The legendary German striker from Bayern Munich has joined the MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps in the current transfer window. The American club has confirmed the news of Muller’s joining.
The 35-year-old Muller has spent 25 years only for Bayern. He even played for the main team for 17 years after his debut in professional football. During this time, he has won numerous trophies, including 13 league titles and 2 Champions League titles. However, all good things must come to an end. Following that rule, Muller announced his departure from Bayern after winning the league last season. And now he has joined the American club Vancouver. In response to joining the new club, Muller said, “I am looking forward to coming to Vancouver to help this team win the championship. I have heard a lot of good things about the city, but first and foremost I am coming to win the title.” Vancouver is currently second in the MLS Western Conference points table. They are only 1 point behind top-placed San Diego, having played one match less.
Apart from Muller, several star footballers from Europe have joined the MLS this season. Earlier, Rodrigo de Paul came from Atletico Madrid to Inter Miami. Where the 31-year-old midfielder has teamed up with national team teammate Lionel Messi. Tottenham’s legendary footballer Son Heung-min has also come to the MLS. The 33-year-old forward has signed for Los Angeles FC after ending a 10-year relationship with Spurs.
In addition to these big names, several other footballers have left Europe to join MLS this season. Among them are Rob Holding (Crystal Palace to Colorado Rapids), Harry Toffolo (Nottingham to Charlotte FC) and Juan Berrocal (Getafe to Atlanta).
