Recently, after two separate murders in Hazaribagh, criminal gangs in this area have come into the spotlight again. On-site investigations have found information that at least fifty such criminal gangs are active in Adabor, Mohammadpur and Hazaribagh. At least 11 people have been killed by these criminal gangs in the 10 months since August 5.

According to information provided by the police and RAB, at least 1,500 people involved in drugs, theft, robbery, robbery, extortion and murder have been arrested from these four police station areas since August 5.

Of these, 1,056 people have been arrested by RAB. Most of them are between the ages of 15 and 22. On September 20 last year, a clash broke out between two criminal gangs, the ‘Alex Emon’ and the ‘Dailla’ groups, over establishing dominance in the Sadek Khan Kacha Bazar area of Rayer Bazar in Mohammadpur. During the clash, two young men named Nasir Biswas and Munna, members of the Dailla group, were killed. Members of both criminal groups are involved in various crimes including theft, robbery, drugs, and extortion. The Alex Emon group is patronized by top terrorist Imamul Hasan Helal alias Picchi Helal. Picchi Helal has also been accused in the double murder case.
