More election-related misinformation has been spread involving BNP and Tarique Rahman

Before the London visit, the interim government’s chief advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, said the likely date for the elections was the first half of April 2026. Later, after a meeting between the chief advisor and Tarique Rahman in London on June 13, a joint statement was made that if all preparations are completed, the elections can be held in the week before the start of Ramadan in 2026. Rumor Scanner analyzed misinformation spread from January to May of this year. The fact-checking organization identified 39 election-related misinformation stories during these five months. The highest number of misinformation stories were spread in April and then May.
During these five months, 19 misinformation stories were identified, 18 were completely false or fake, and one was given a misleading rating. In addition, one humorous story was fact-checked for factual claims.
