Law and order situation in the country has deteriorated due to lack of elections: Mirza Fakhrul
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Elections are the main vehicle for moving towards democracy. These incidents are happening in the country today because there are no elections, law and order incidents are happening, they are deteriorating, deaths are increasing, miscreants are taking advantage. Because, they (the interim government) do not have that kind of public support behind them…. An elected government will undoubtedly be a much stronger government.”
Mirza Fakhrul was the special guest at a program organized at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon with the family members of the leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal who were martyred in the July mass uprising. The event was organized by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the sister organization of BNP. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was the chief guest at the event. He joined the event virtually from London.
Regarding the recent incidents including the massacre in Old Dhaka, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul said, “I want to make one thing clear. I urge the government to investigate the incidents that are happening very quickly, find the real criminals and punish them.’
