Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin has said that necessary amendments to the law and steps should be taken to increase administrative capacity to provide more relief to consumers. He also said, “We need to build our institutions properly. If the institutions are built properly and their capacity is increased, the miscreants in this sector will be forced to retreat.”

The Commerce Advisor said this as the chief guest at a discussion titled ‘Strengthening Consumer Rights’ organized by the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and the National Consumer Rights Protection Department at the TCB Auditorium in Karwan Bazar in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. Commenting that it is time to form a consumer syndicate against the market syndicate to protect consumer rights, the Commerce Advisor said, “We have to come out of the culture of injustice and weakening institutions.
