Kalapara Labor Party leader Sohel Dewan expelled from party

Sohel Dewan, senior vice-president of the Kalapara Upazila Sramik Dal in Patuakhali, has been expelled from the organization. The matter was announced in a notification signed by Patuakhali District Sramik Dal’s co-promotion and publication secretary Shafiqul Islam on Monday afternoon.

The notification said that Sohel Dewan was expelled from the primary membership of the Sramik Dal, including organizational positions, based on specific allegations of being involved in party discipline, immoral activities against party policies and ideals.

According to local residents, Sohel occupied a private land in Kalapara municipality a few days ago and started constructing a structure. The upazila administration, after receiving information about the incident, sentenced him to seven days in prison through a mobile court. At that time, Sohel threatened Assistant Commissioner (Land) Yasin Sadek. Later, he came out of jail and set up a temporary shop to sell chicken in the same place. Apart from this, there are various criminal charges against him. Kalapara Upazila Sramik Dal President Gazi Harun said, Sohel Dewan is involved in various types of immoral activities. As these activities have tarnished the image of the party, he has been expelled from the primary membership of the Sramik Dal and its organizational positions.
