The interim government has finalized the draft of the July Declaration. The July Declaration will be presented to the nation at 5 pm on August 5. This was announced by the Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam in a post on his verified Facebook account after 12 noon today, Saturday. Shafiqul Alam wrote in his post, ‘The interim government has finalized the draft of the July Declaration. The July Declaration will be presented to the nation at 5 pm next Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the presence of all parties of the mass uprising. Details in this regard will be announced immediately.’

The July Declaration has been one of the most discussed issues in the political arena since the July mass uprising last year. The interim government recently sent the final draft of the July Declaration to various parties, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), in view of the anniversary of the uprising.
The draft declaration has 26 points. The first 21 points describe the background of the July Uprising, starting from the various historical and democratic struggles of the people of Bangladesh, including the Great Liberation War. The next 5 points discuss the state’s desire for democratic reforms, prompt and appropriate trials for crimes such as disappearances, murders, genocide, crimes against humanity, and all types of torture and oppression and looting of state property during the Awami League regime, the rule of law and human rights, corruption, the establishment of a society free from exploitation and discrimination, and a democratic state system.
