Jamie Lever, daughter of actor-comedian Johnny Lever, recently shared her experience of a terrifying ‘casting couch’. Jamie said that she was asked to get naked on a video call in the name of auditioning for an international project.

In an interview with Indian media outlet Zoom, Jamie said, ‘I was very excited; because, it was an international project. They said that there would be an audition on a video call. They did not give me a script, they said that I would have to improvise. At the appointed time, I was sent a link, I joined. They said that the director would talk to me directly. A person introduced himself as the director while keeping the video off. He said that he was traveling, so he could not turn on the video. Then he said, “This is an international film, you are absolutely perfect in terms of the character, but you need to do some testing.”’‘Imagine, there is a 50-year-old man sitting in front of me’
Jamie said, ‘He said the character is bold, there will be no comedy. I was also interested in exploring something new. I wanted to know what to do. He said, “Imagine a 50-year-old man sitting in front of you, you’re trying to attract him. At the end, you have an intimate scene.”
I said, I want to do it according to the script. He said, there is no script, it’s all improvised. If you have to be naked, say something or do something, you can do it.” I still didn’t feel comfortable. But he kept saying, “This is a big project, we want to cast you.” I made it clear then – if you ask me to get naked on a video call, I am not comfortable at all. I was not told any of this before. After that I stopped the video. That’s when I realized that the whole thing could be a big scam.’ Jamie said, ‘If I had gotten carried away and done something a little emotionally, maybe it could have been recorded and blackmailed. There are many women who fall into this trap and face destruction. I really consider myself very lucky. Actually, I should not have clicked on that link. But my present intelligence saved me. It was the first time in my life that I had such an experience, I was really scared.’ Jamie has acted in Bollywood films like ‘Kiss Kisco Pair Karu’, ‘Housefull 4’, ‘Bhoot Police’, ‘Yatris’, ‘Crack’. His stand-up comedy tour ‘The Jamie Lever Show’ is starting across the United States. This tour will start from Seattle on August 1 and will visit 15 cities and end in Boston on August 31.
