India deports 22 Bangladeshis to Sylhet

India has sent back 22 Bangladeshis through the Tamabil land port in Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet. They were detained by the law enforcement agencies of that country after illegally entering the country at various times and served different terms of imprisonment.

The 22 Bangladeshis were sent back at the Tamabil land port at around 4 pm today, Friday, in the presence of BGB, BSF and police of the two countries. Among them, 17 are men and 5 are women. According to Tamabil Immigration Police sources, 22 Bangladeshis returning from India had entered India at various times. Later, they were detained by BSF and Indian police. They served different terms of imprisonment in Tura jail in Meghalaya state of India. Following the application of the Bangladeshi authorities, the Indian immigration authorities handed them over in the presence of BGB-BSF. They are residents of Sylhet, Netrokona, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Bogra, Jessore and Jamalpur.

Shamim Mia, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Tamabil Immigration Police in Sylhet, said that the 22 Bangladeshis have been handed over to their relatives after completing the legal process.
