If the National Consensus Commission fails, it will be everyone’s failure, said Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz. He said, “Actually, the commission is not a separate entity. The commission is a partner of all of us. Therefore, if we fail somewhere, it is a failure of all of us. It is not a failure of the commission. If the commission fails, it will be a failure of all of us.”

Professor Ali Riaz said this at the beginning of the 14th day of the second phase of the National Consensus Commission’s discussions with political parties at the Doel Multipurpose Hall of the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Tuesday.
Addressing the political parties, Ali Riaz said, “The responsibility that has been entrusted to us is your responsibility as a political party. We have only become partners.”
Ali Riaz requested the political parties to come to a common ground in the discussions. He spoke about the need to reach a decision in the next few days. He repeatedly requested all political parties to come to a common ground as much as possible.
Today’s discussion began with the discussion on the unfinished issue of the bicameral National Parliament yesterday. Then, there will be a discussion on the method of election of women’s seats. Today, a final consensus is expected to be reached on these two issues.
30 political parties including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Islami Andolan, Bangladesh Communist Party (CPB), and Gana Sanghati Andolan are participating in today’s discussion.
The program is being presided over by the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor (National Consensus Commission) Monir Haider and is being presided over by the President of the National Consensus Commission, Professor Ali Riaz. In addition, commission members Safar Raj Hossain, Justice Emdadul Haque, Badiul Alam Majumder, Iftekharuzzaman and Mohammad Ayub Mia are present.
