Yesterday, Wednesday, BSEC officials and employees blocked the chairman and commissioners at BSEC and protested, demanding their resignation. When the situation deteriorated, the chairman and commissioners left BSEC at around 3:30 pm under the guard of the army. The officials and employees announced a strike from Thursday demanding their resignation. Executive Director Mahbubul Alam briefed the employees on the ground floor of the BSEC building in Agargaon in the afternoon. Accordingly, they started the strike today. BSEC Chairman Khandaker Rashed Maqsood, Commissioners Mohsin Chowdhury, Ali Akbar and Farzana Lalarukh came to the office under the guard of the army after noon today. They spoke to reporters at the time. Meanwhile, brokers’ organizations DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) and Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) have expressed concern over the instability of BSEC. The two organizations have sought government intervention to resolve the problem.
