I see students taking exams using AI, while the principal is sitting and drinking tea: National University Vice Chancellor
In light of his experience, he said that during a recent visit to a college in Dhaka, it was also seen that students were sitting in the examination hall and taking exams using AI. The principal was sitting and drinking tea. Vice Chancellor ASM Amanullah said this at a dialogue titled ‘365 days of the interim government’ at a hotel in Gulshan, the capital, on Sunday morning. The dialogue was organized by the private research institute Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD).
In the dialogue, the Vice Chancellor of the National University said that the connection between education and industry in the examination system and curriculum of the National University is almost zero. Still, no one talks about it. Because, big companies in the country need students who have passed out of the National University. These students are not skilled, their ambitions are also low. For this reason, they can be easily manipulated. They can be used for a long time.
Regarding the weakness of the National University’s examination system, ASM Amanullah said, “Here, the physics teacher inputs the marks for the philosophy course. Even in honors-masters colleges that do not have labs, 100 marks are given in chemistry, physics and biology exams. Although many colleges have labs, no work is done there.” The vice-chancellor said, “Recently, when I went to a college in Dhaka, I saw that students were taking exams using AI on their mobile phones. And the principal was sitting quietly and drinking tea. He also said that such a terrible situation is going on, it is difficult to find responsible teachers. Three groups out of 10 teachers.
The CPD dialogue was attended by the interim government’s Shipping Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur, BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, among others. CPD Executive Director Fahmida Khatun presented the keynote address at the dialogue.
