Housewife killed after being hit by truck while returning home with her children in her husband’s van

A housewife named Rikta Parveen (25) was killed after being run over by a truck in Monirampur, Jessore. Rikta’s van driver husband Abu Musa and three-year-old daughter Nusrat were injured after being thrown out. The accident took place in front of Sundalpur Secondary School on the Jessore-Chuknagar road on Tuesday evening.

The deceased family lives in Hogladanga Madhupur village of the same upazila. On receiving the information, members of the Monirampur police station and fire service recovered the housewife’s body. Locals detained the truck and its driver Ahmed Ali and handed them over to the police.

The deceased housewife’s relative, journalist Mohammad Babul Akhtar and team leader of the Monirampur Fire Service, Aminul Islam, said, “This afternoon, Rikta Parveen went to a homeopath doctor in Sundalpur Bazar with her daughter Nusrat in her husband’s engine van. On the way back from there, a speeding truck heading towards Jessore coming from behind in front of Sundalpur Secondary School hit the engine van. As a result, the housewife, Rikta, fell on the road and was crushed under the wheels of the truck, dying on the spot. The housewife’s husband, Musa, and their baby daughter, Nusrat, were injured at the time.” Monirampur Fire Service team leader, Aminul Islam, said, “We have recovered the body of the housewife and her husband and child and have taken them to Monirampur Hospital.”

Rafeza Khatun, a doctor at the emergency department of the Manirampur Upazila Health Complex, said the housewife was brought to the hospital dead. Her husband and children were given first aid.
