However, this evening, as the Bahrain-Turkmenistan match in the same group (‘C’ Group) drew 2-2, Bangladesh was confirmed as the group winner with one match left. This confirmed Bangladesh’s participation in the final round of the 2026 Asian Cup.
In the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers being held in Myanmar, Bangladesh has collected 6 points from two matches so far. Myanmar has 3 points and Bahrain and Turkmenistan have 1 point each. Even if Bangladesh loses to Turkmenistan in the last group match on July 5 and Myanmar gets a total of 6 points by defeating Bahrain, Bangladesh will still be the group champion according to the rules. The top group winners in the qualifying round will qualify for next year’s tournament in Australia.
