Hill Tracts Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee meeting begins
The first meeting of the Implementation and Monitoring Committee of the Hill Tracts Agreement formed by the interim government is being held in Rangamati district today, Saturday. The meeting is being held at the rest room of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board in Bhedbhedi area of Rangamati town. The meeting began at around 10:30 am. Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain, Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council Jyotirindra Bodhipriya (Santu) Larma, Chairman of the Refugee Task Force Sudatta Chakma are present in the meeting. They are three members of the committee. Apart from them, Advisor to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Supradeep Chakma, Regional Council member Gautam Kumar Chakma and Joint Secretary Konkan Chakma are also present in the meeting.

According to sources in the Ministry of Hill Tracts, the Implementation and Monitoring Committee of the Hill Tracts Agreement was formed on January 12 following the application of the Parbatya Chittagong Jana Sanghati Samiti (JSS). The committee was convened by Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain.
The government notification said that the committee will monitor and supervise the implementation of the Hill Tracts Agreement, as well as take necessary measures to resolve problems related to the implementation of the agreement and make recommendations to the government if necessary.
