High Court wants to know

The High Court has issued a rule asking why the hearing of cases related to important and constitutional questions in the High Court should not be directed to be broadcast live. In view of the writ petition in this regard, a bench of Justice Md. Habibul Gani and Justice Syed Mohammad Tajrul Hossain issued this rule on Tuesday.

The Registrar General of the Supreme Court, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Secretary of the Ministry of Law have been asked to respond to the rule within the next 4 weeks. Lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir heard the hearing on behalf of the writ petitioners. He was assisted by lawyer Mohammad Saddam Hossain.

Earlier, Supreme Court lawyers Saddam Hossain, Mizanun Haque, Abdullah Sadiq, Aminul Islam Shakil, Dhaka Judge Court lawyer Zayed Bin Amjad, Dhaka University law students Shahnewaz Shakib, Mahmudul Hasan, Sabbir Hasan, Habibur Rahman Al Hasan, Rafiur Rabbi and Shamim Shahidi filed the writ petition.

Lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir said the court has set June 26 for the next hearing on the matter.
