The Cabinet Division of the interim government issued separate circulars last Wednesday declaring August 5 as the ‘July Mass Uprising Day’, August 8 as the ‘New Bangladesh Day’ and July 16 as the ‘Martyr Abu Sayeed Day’. Many people, including top leaders of the National Citizens Party (NCP), objected to the declaration of August 8 as the ‘New Bangladesh Day’ among these three days.
