Former Chief Justice Khairul Haque jailed in murder case
The court has ordered the jailing of former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque in the Abdul Qayyum murder case filed at Jatrabari Police Station.

The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court issued the order on Thursday night following the police’s application.
Earlier, the police produced former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque in the court and requested to show him arrested in the Abdul Qayyum murder case filed at Jatrabari Police Station. On the other hand, Khairul Haque applied for bail. After hearing both sides, the court ordered him to be sent to jail. The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Khairul Haque from a house in Dhanmondi in the capital at around 8:30 am today. He was then taken to the DB office on Minto Road in the capital. Later, he was produced in court.
There are a total of three cases against Khairul Haque in the capital’s Jatrabari Police Station and Narayanganj.
Khairul Haque is politically criticized as the main judge who gave the verdict in the case of abolishing the caretaker government system.
There is a case against Khairul Haque at Fatulla Model Police Station in Narayanganj on charges of giving a verdict by forgery and sedition. On August 25 last year, Abdul Bari Bhuiyan, former president of the District Bar Association and general secretary of Fatulla Police Station BNP, filed the case. In addition, there is a case against him in Dhaka.
Khairul Haque was appointed as the 19th Chief Justice of the country on September 27, 2010. His appointment took effect from September 30 of the same year. He retired on May 17 of the following year.
