Elections without reforms will lead to rise of fascism again: Jamaat

Mia Golam Parwar said these things at a press conference at the Abdus Salam Auditorium of the National Press Club in the capital today, Thursday. The press conference was organized on the occasion of the July 19 rally.

Mia Golam Parwar spoke about Jamaat’s seven-point demands at the press conference. He said that Jamaat’s seven-point demands include ensuring a ‘level playing field’ in the elections, trial of the massacres committed during the July mass uprising before the elections, ensuring fundamental reforms in various state institutions to organize fair elections, balancing the powers of the Prime Minister and the President, treatment of those injured in the July uprising, elections using the PR system, ensuring the right to vote for expatriates, and taking appropriate steps to improve the law and order situation.

Mia Ghulam Parwar said that his party Jamaat believes that fascism will rise again if the next national election is held without reforms. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that no conspiracy can disrupt the reforms.

Mia Ghulam Parwar mentioned that Jamaat did not organize a rally on any street to reduce the suffering to some extent. He said that this rally may create some suffering and traffic congestion in urban life. On behalf of Jamaat, they humbly apologize to the countrymen and city dwellers in advance.

Mia Golam Parwar described organizing a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan as expensive. He said, they are working for the people, for the welfare of the country. But in the last 54 years, Jamaat as a party has been subjected to constitutional and state persecution. Many political parties hold rallies on the streets. But despite the cost, they have decided to hold a rally in the field to reduce some of the suffering of the people.
