Donnarumma’s heroics after Dembele’s goal, PSG advance by defeating Arsenal
Arsenal fans were certainly not ready to see this goal. Because, the net shook Arsenal. Ousmane Dembele shook.
Gianluigi Donnarumma showed heroism under the goalpost after Dembele’s goal in the fourth minute of the first leg of the semi-final. He ruined five of Arsenal’s goal chances. In the end, the goal of World Cup winner Dembele and the extraordinary saves of Euro winner Donnarumma made the difference in the match. With that, PSG defeated Arsenal 1-0 on their own field and advanced to the UEFA Champions League final.
PSG will reach the Champions League final for the first time in five years if they avoid defeat in the return leg at their home ground, Parc des Princes in Paris, on Wednesday.
Arsenal had 11 shots on target in the first leg of the quarter-final against Real Madrid, but managed to take less than half of them today; 5. All were in vain as Donnarumma stood up for the wall.
Dembele’s winning goal was scored by ‘Georgian Maradona’ Khicha Kavaraskeia. Kavaraskeia attacked from the left and entered the box. He then found Dembele between two Arsenal defenders. The French forward took a left-footed shot without receiving the ball. That was enough to elude Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya and find the net. The two teams went into the break with a 1-0 scoreline.
