Did Trump lie?: Modi refuses to answer Rahul’s question
US President Donald Trump claimed credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. However, the Indian government has always said that they did not stop the conflict by listening to anyone. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this. He urged him to clarify whether Trump had lied or not. However, Modi did not respond to Rahul’s challenge.
Did Trump lie?: Modi refuses to answer Rahul’s question
In a discussion in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday on the operation called ‘Operation Sindoor’ that India had launched following the attack by gunmen in Pahalgam in Indian-controlled Kashmir, Rahul Gandhi said that if he did not agree to the ceasefire under pressure, then Modi should say directly – Trump is a liar, he is making untrue claims. Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Khagde also made the same challenge in the Rajya Sabha. Despite participating in the discussion on Tuesday for a long quarter of an hour and a half, Modi did not even mention Trump’s name. The discussion also ended with his speech. Later, Rahul told reporters that the Prime Minister did not say once that Trump was lying. Apart from that, neither he nor the Defense Minister even mentioned China’s name. But everyone knows that China fought for Pakistan.
Trump has been claiming credit for the ceasefire since the suspension of Operation Vermilion. According to Rahul, Trump has made this claim 29 times. Rahul challenged Modi to find out whether that claim was true or false. However, the Indian Prime Minister only said that no country in the world has asked India to stop Operation Vermilion.
Modi said, ‘The US Vice President called me many times on the night of May 9. I was busy in a meeting and could not reach him. Then I called him. The Vice President told me that Pakistan was going to launch a major attack. In response, I said, then they will have to be ready for an even bigger attack. We will respond to the fire with fire.’
Rahul has repeatedly wanted to say in the Lok Sabha that India’s foreign policy has allied China and Pakistan. China is actually fighting the fight for Pakistan. Rahul also criticized that although all countries oppose terrorism, no one opposed Pakistan on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. Rather, some stood in its favor. This is a failure of India’s foreign policy.
In response, Modi said that out of 193 countries in the world, only 3 countries stood in its favor. The others did not. This is India’s diplomatic success. In his speech, he repeatedly criticized the diplomacy and decisions of the Congress. He said that the Congress has completely become the spokesperson of Pakistan today. Pakistan is using whatever the Congress leaders say. The Congress is repeatedly trying to break the morale of the army.
