Passengers protested against the cancellation of the Prabal Express train from Chittagong to Cox’s Bazar. At that time, they stood in front of the station manager and station master’s rooms and expressed their anger. At one stage, they vandalized the station master’s room. The incident took place at Chittagong station around 6 pm today, Friday.

Railway sources said that Prabal Express from Chittagong was scheduled to leave for Cox’s Bazar at 3:10 pm. But the train arrived at Chittagong station from Cox’s Bazar after 5 pm. Then this train went to Cox’s Bazar via Prabal Express. But the railway authorities decided to cancel the journey of the Prabal Express train bound for Cox’s Bazar as it arrived much later than scheduled. The train arrived late, and then the journey was canceled again. The passengers became angry for these two reasons. Then they went to the station manager and master’s rooms and expressed their anger. Later, the passengers had an argument with the railway security forces.
A railway official said that 30 more seats than the scheduled seats of the Saikat Express from Chittagong to Cox’s Bazar were sold online in the morning, which was detected just before the train left in the morning. Later, a new coach had to be added. As a result, it left at 7:30 am, 1 hour and 15 minutes late. This train was supposed to return from Cox’s Bazar via the Prabal Express at 2:10 pm. But due to the delay in the journey from Chittagong, the schedule was thrown out.
Railway officials claim that if the train had not been cancelled, the train would have reached Cox’s Bazar at 11 pm. Then another troublesome situation would have arisen at Cox’s Bazar station. Considering all this, the train journey has been cancelled.
Railway Divisional Transport Officer Anisur Rahman said that the train journey had to be cancelled due to an unavoidable reason. Although many passengers returned, some passengers created chaos. Later, the situation was brought under control.
Meanwhile, passengers were in trouble due to the cancellation of the train journey on Friday, a weekly holiday. Many were going to visit Cox’s Bazar with their families. Passengers who were going to visit Cox’s Bazar were also supposed to return to Chittagong by Saikat Express at night. Since the Prabal Express is not running, the Saikat Express will also not run. They will have to travel by alternative route.
