Case filed against former CEC Nurul Huda for harassing him, all 6 accused are from the Volunteer Party
Police said that Sheikh Farid Hossain, president of Dhaka Metropolitan North Volunteer Party, led the attack on former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda. After analyzing video footage and information, the police have identified six people including Farid. All of them are involved in the politics of Dhaka Metropolitan North Volunteer Party. The police filed a case with Uttara Paschim Police Station on Tuesday in this incident. The names of six people including Farid have been mentioned in the case.

Unknown persons have also been made accused in the case. Earlier, on Monday night, the army arrested a person named Hanif Mia and handed him over to Uttara Paschim Police Station. He is the member secretary of Uttara Paschim Police Station. He was shown arrested in the case and sent to court today. Police said that other accused named in the case include Dulal, president of the Swechchhasebak Dal’s Turag police station, Selim, convener of Uttara West police station, Qayyum, joint convener of Uttara East police station, and Muzammel Hossain Dhali, a party worker. The video shows Muzammel Hossain Dhali beating Nurul Huda with a shoe. Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Uttara West police station, told Prothom Alo that charges have been brought in the case of beating KM Nurul Huda with a shoe, defaming her, and trespassing. He said that a mob was created by entering Nurul Huda’s house without the help of law enforcement officers. These matters have been mentioned in the case statement. All those who have been accused were at the scene.
A group of people broke into Nurul Huda’s house in Uttara, the capital, last Sunday, brought him out, tied him up with a chain of shoes, harassed him and handed him over to the police. It is understood that the police were also present at the time of the incident.
