BSF pushes 23 more people through two borders in Panchagarh

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed 23 people, including women and children, into Bangladesh through two borders in Panchagarh. The incident of pushing them into Bangladesh took place late on Wednesday night.

According to BGB and local sources, the BSF pushed 17 people through the Malkadanga border of Barashshi union in Boda upazila of the district at around 1 am and 6 people through the Shinroad border of Chaklahat union in Sadar upazila at around 3 am. The BGB arrested 23 people, including women and children, from the border area at night. They were handed over to Panchagarh Sadar and Boda police stations on Thursday afternoon. Among the detained people, there are seven men, eight women and eight children. Their homes are in different areas of Bagerhat and Narail districts.

The BGB said that 17 people were arrested from the Dariyar Mor area, about 300 yards inside Bangladesh from the 10th sub-pillar of the 774th main pillar of the Malkadanga border in Boda upazila. They were pushed back from the Kutila camp of the 130th BSF battalion in India.

On the other hand, the BGB arrested six people from the Brahmanpara area, about 200 yards inside from the 12th sub-pillar of the 764th main pillar of the Shinroad border in Sadar upazila. They were pushed back by the 93rd BSF battalion in India’s Khayerbari camp.

During initial interrogation, the detainees said that they had been living in India for a long time and worked in different areas. Recently, the Indian police arrested them from Gujarat and Delhi. Later, they were brought to the border by plane and bus and sent to Bangladesh through the BSF.

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Md., commander of the 56th BGB battalion. Badruddoza said in a press release on Thursday afternoon that a flag meeting has been called at the company commander level on both borders regarding the incident.
