Body found hanging from working women’s hostel in capital
Police have recovered the hanging body of a woman named Riya Akhter Shanta (30) from the ‘Working Women’s Hostel’ in the capital’s New Market area. Her body was recovered from a room in the hostel on Sunday afternoon. Police said that Riya, after completing her studies at Dhaka University, was working at Agrani Bank in Dhaka’s Dohar area. She lived in the Working Women’s Hostel. She is married. Her home is in Palashpur village of Barisal Sadar Upazila. Her father’s name is Jahangir Hossain Khandaker.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of New Market Police Station Mobarak Hossain told Prothom Alo that after receiving information at noon, the woman’s hanging body was recovered from the hostel. Riya was found hanging from a fan with a veil tied around her neck. The body was recovered and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 3:30 pm after completing the legal process. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
