BNP committed to restoring people’s right to vote: Selima Rahman

BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman said, “The country and the country’s democracy are safe in the hands of BNP. Therefore, we must vote on the paddy husk to build a beautiful, prosperous and democratic Bangladesh in the next election. BNP is committed to returning the right to vote to the people. Therefore, we want quick elections.”

She said this while speaking as the chief guest at a rally organized at Madhabpasha Girls’ Secondary School ground in Babuganj Upazila of Barisal on Wednesday afternoon. Selima Rahman said, “BNP has established multi-party democracy in this country. The people are our biggest strength. We hold and believe in this wholeheartedly. BNP has been fighting against fascist rule for 16 years. Khaleda Zia is an uncompromising leader. She has been in jail, but has not compromised with anyone. The country is now free from fascism. The people of the country now want quick elections. We also want the power of the people to be returned to the hands of the people. For this, there is no alternative to elections.”

The rally, chaired by Mahabub Talukder, was addressed by Nationalist Lawyers Forum Central Joint General Secretary Moniruzzaman, former Muladi Upazila BNP president Abdus Sattar Khan, former Babuganj Upazila BNP president Israt Hossain Talukder, former Barisal District Volunteer Party president Aminul Islam, District Krishak Party president Mohsin Alam, District South Jubo Dal vice-president Md. Awlad Hossain, former Muladi Municipality BNP president Abdur Rob Khan, Babuganj Upazila Jubo Dal joint convener Md. Riaz Hossain, among others.
