BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan believes that three to four months are enough to complete the reforms and hold the elections. He said that it will take three to four months to complete the reforms being carried out by the government, including reforms in the administration, judiciary, and law and order forces, and to give the election a gift.
He said these things at a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Monday.
Nazrul Islam Khan further said, “The basic task of an election is the preparation of the voter list. After that comes the election preparations. Once the schedule is announced, the candidates will submit their nomination papers as per the rules. It shouldn’t take so much time to do all these things. If we follow the proposals we have made, there is no need to delay the election ceremony too much.”
At the press conference, BNP Standing Committee member Salah Uddin Ahmed said, “The reforms we have proposed have been well thought out by the party. For this, we have sat with the expert committee. We have spoken to many people. Most of the reforms we have talked about are legal reforms and paperwork. Practically, the tasks that the Election Commission takes time for include preparing the voter list, adding new voters, correcting any mistakes and identifying fake voters. Then, it should not take more than two to three months to organize all the work, including appointing election officers
