Islam considers character flaws, such as arrogance (kibar), jealousy (hasad) or excessive love for the world (hubbud dunya), which do not reach clinical levels, as spiritual illnesses.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘Whoever has an atom’s weight of pride in his heart will not enter Paradise.’ (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 91)

When someone suffers from clinical mental illness, their daily functioning is first restored through clinical treatment. Then the treatment of spiritual defects begins, so that they can achieve the pleasure of Allah (Mardatillah).
For this, it is good to take the company of a God-fearing person. The Holy Quran says, ‘O you who believe, fear Allah and take the company of the truthful’ (Surah At-Tawbah, verse: 119).
Like physical health, taking preventive measures for mental and spiritual health is also essential. We need to bring a break (pause) in our lives to relieve the pressure of constant productivity in modern society.
