Apu Biswas surrenders in court and gets bail
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman issued the bail order on Sunday.
Court-related sources say that Apu Biswas surrendered to the court today and applied for bail. The state opposed her bail. After hearing both sides, the court granted Apu Biswas bail.
Apu Biswas had obtained 6-week anticipatory bail from the High Court in the case on June 2. Now she has surrendered to the trial court and been granted bail.
Last March, a person named Enamul Haque filed a case in the Dhaka court accusing Sheikh Hasina and 283 others of attempted murder. He was shot dead in the capital’s Bhatara area on July 19.
On the court’s orders, the capital’s Bhatara police later announced that it would record it as a complaint.
Bhatara police had then informed that 17 actors were named in the case. Among them are Apu Biswas, Nusrat Faria, Nipun Akhter, Zayed Khan, etc. The case alleged that these accused had provided money and support to the ruling party by taking a stand against the anti-discrimination movement.
