BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has commented that the demonic repression of Awami League in the past 16 years was equivalent to the demonic nature of Yazid’s army. He made this comment in a statement on the occasion of the holy Ashura today, Saturday.
Tarique Rahman said, 10th Muharram is an eventful and tragic day for the followers of Islam, which is observed as the holy Ashura. While fighting against injustice, injustice and oppression, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was martyred on this day in the desert of Karbala. This is a day of mourning, respect and sacrifice.
The acting chairman of BNP said, Imam Hussain’s army sacrificed their lives in the war against those who, obsessed with power, destroyed justice and humanity. The martyrdom of Imam Hussain’s army in Karbala has always inspired the oppressed people to be free from the clutches of tyrants in every country.
Referring to the 16-year rule of the Awami League, Tarique Rahman said in the statement, “In the last 16 years, a reign of indescribable exploitation and oppression was established, including fraudulent elections, deprivation of people’s voting rights, disappearances, extrajudicial killings, terrorism, violence, and smuggling of the country’s money abroad. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was imprisoned on false charges and deprived of proper medical treatment, and was made to face death.”
The Awami League government fell in a student uprising on August 5 last year, and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India.
The acting chairman of the BNP said that the demonic repression of the cruel Awami leaders who fled the country was equivalent to the Yazid army. He said, “So that no more ruthless tyrants emerge, the war of Imam Hossain’s army will always inspire us to resist.”
