The press conference was organized at the building of the District Muktijoddha Sangsad under the banner of ‘Jamalpur District Volunteers’ defected and persecuted leaders and activists’.
Abu Bakkar Siddique (Babu), former joint general secretary of the District Volunteers’ Party, gave a written statement at the press conference. He said that a partial committee of two was given from the center last Thursday. The previous acting president Nural Momin Akand (Kausar) was made the convener of the committee and Manjurul Karim (Sumon) was made the member secretary. Nural Momin Akand did not play a role in any movement or struggle before August 5. There are also various allegations against him, including encroachment. Abu Bakkar Siddique further said, ‘Member Secretary Manjurul Karim controls everything in the Jamalpur Railway Station area. Apart from this, his father and some family members are involved in Awami League politics. There are various allegations against him, including land encroachment. The committee has been formed with such controversial people. As a result, we demand that the committee be canceled and a new committee be announced with the resigned leaders and activists.’
In this regard, Nurul Momin Akand, convener of the newly formed committee of Jamalpur District Volunteer Party, said, ‘We have been given a two-member committee. When the full committee is formed, the resigned leaders will be evaluated. And we are residents of this city. Everyone in the society knows what we are like. Just holding a press conference and making a written complaint does not make a lie true. I will inform the center about the matter.’
